Santa Clara Hotels’ Occupancy In February Up 34% Year Over Year
Despite a challenging business and leisure travel climate, the eight hotels surrounding the Santa Clara Convention Center and Californias Great America theme park averaged more than 76 percent occupancy in February.
The 76.33 rate was up 34 percent over February 2009, in which the same hotels reported a 57.06 occupancy rate.
Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and Convention-Visitors Bureau President and CEO Steve Van Dorn credited part of the rise to a busy month at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Delegates attending Stitches West, DesignCon, American String Teachers Association, and other meetings and tradeshows added to the increased room night occupancy, he said.
The averages compiled by the Santa Clara Convention and Visitors Bureau include the Avatar Hotel, Biltmore Hotel & Suites, Embassy Suites, Hilton Santa Clara, Hotel Sierra, Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, Marriott Santa Clara and the Plaza Suites.
